Somewhere in my mind there is a little army of mass confusers, reeking havoc, trotting around and keeping my sense of self imprisoned and subdued. It is too afraid to venture into to the dark, the unknown. It clings to the beacon that signals security, safety, and same. Around this war zone is a reservoir of doubt that I’ll ever escape.
After staying up until midnight sobbing to my boyfriend about how lost I feel I was told I need to embrace my ADD. It’s okay to like things for a month and move on-it’s what makes me, me. I was also told to stop comparing myself to others who have found some kind of “niche” that seems to have made them successful.
One important lesson I have learned lately (and if you are in the same position as I, I recommend taking it seriously): STOP reading magazine articles, blogs, books, whatever, about woman or stay at home moms who had some kind of epiphany and are now running their own business, or making living off their newly found niche.
Just stop. Because it will make you crazy.

I did. I did go down that slide, in the rain, and got sopping wet! I don’t know how many miles per hour I was going but, I was going fast. And yes, I did. I hurt myself. But, the thrill, and the 5 minute long belly laugh that was involved was well worth it.

I didn’t take many photos. I was too busy playing in the rain!

Sometimes there is a song. A song that you can listen to in your favorite time and place. For me, those favorites are home, in front of my window, on an rainy day. The heater will be on, and mostly likely there will be a cup of hot chocolate in my hand, and cat curled up on my lap. Winter is my favorite time of year. Maybe, it’s because I’m such a fan of curling up with hot chocolate on a rainy day or maybe it’s because gray days are a good excuse to stay home and be quiet and introspective. And then the song plays. And all of the sudden I find myself in my favorite spot, with all of my favorite things, during my favorite weather and things just “click”. I feel reassured and have a little sigh of relief. This song will be that song, this winter.

Hello, there, imaginary readers. This passed week has been filled with little surprises. From my car breaking down, to a co-worker not talking to me (I have no idea why, and that is what makes it a surprise), to getting to see the moon through a telescope and doing, I think, surprisingly well on my algebra mid-term. Yes, so maybe bigger downs then ups last week but I’m sure the Ups will be making a comeback sometime soon.
It’s important to take a step a back and remember the little things. Sometimes the little things are the only things that can help you see past that little cloud of confusion following us around.
Little things that cheer me up when I’m blue: Mini cupcakes, Gummy candies shaped like animals, Rain, and being off on a Monday morning so I can catch up on my blog, homework, and other miscellaneous things.
Also, one of my sewing projects puts a smile on my face. In this class we make samples of various sewing techniques, such as interfacing, t-shirt collars, and…..pants. They provide the material for these samples and of course I picked…..
Ha! Does anyone know anyone really miniature that would love this fabulous pair of pants?!?! And in case you can’t see, that’s a wine bottle print 😉
Wine bottles are another “little thing” that makes me happy but, at the moment I’ll settle for a hot cup of coffee. It is only 10am, after all.
As for personal projects…still haven’t worked on my diorama.
Actually, it has turned into Ewok’s favorite little nook 😐
I did however, begin creating a new apron. I’m hoping to make a few for the holidays as gifts. I supposes those can count as projects. Here is the plan:
I’m thinking I’m going to switch the trim (Pink on top and green along sides and bottom) but, I haven’t decided yet. That is the gist of it, though.
In other news, I’ve received an intriguing e-mail from Career Builder just now: How can the color you like the least help you find the job you love? Oh, goody, another unproductive quiz! I stopped myself from reading on. I need to decide which color I like the least first as not to be swayed by biased opinions from the given options. Sooooo……(this is me thinking of my least favorite color)……
I’d say my least favorite color is Orange. I like all colors really, but blues and greens are my favorite, reds pinks and purples are the next runner ups. And I always like black and white. I wear a lot of grey. So, yeah, orange it is!
ORANGE:
“You like Orange the least
Your concerned, considerate persona makes you the ultimate pleaser. When the going gets tough, you work harder and harder.
Success tip: Under promise and over deliver by critically evaluating a project, in conjunction with other deadlines, before you commit.
Interview power: Don’t overreach. Focus on a “right now” job that will later deliver a “dream” career.
Avoid co-worker clash: Others only do well what they enjoy. Don’t expect otherwise.
Best jobs for you: Consider pleasing occupations like customer service or PR.”
Well, Orange I glad I figured that out?

So, what made me decide to post after being on a blogging hiatus for four months now? For, starters, I’m going back to school this semester. Really. I’m actually going. All this time spent on the computer these days, when a break is needed, I catch up on my Google Reader. A long lost favorite: Geek In Heels. All the Starwars, Nintendo, and artsy photo posts are enough to make any nerdy girl giddy with geeky glee. Suddenly, I realized “wait! I have a blog too.” I’ll never catch up with projects now that I have a million other things to do. But, I’m keeping pretty busy, anyway.
The update:
Bought a stack of over priced books and realized I don’t have a place to sit and read them so….

I'm working on a painting: No, that's not some kind of weird alien space craft, it's going to be an umbrella. What it will be raining is still in question.

I really wish I could share photos of my birthday. But, I just don't know you that well. But, this glass I found, really says it all

That about sums it up. Along with educational non-sense, I'm also taking a sewing class and hopefully will be able to post some projects from that on here, as well. I think I'm off to a good start for the second half of the year. I have reflected before on how being really busy, with the good kind of busy, seems to give you more energy then if you're not busy. I guess, that is where my surge of energy is coming from. It's a challenge to squeeze all kinds of things into your day or week. And that makes having just five minutes of "nothing" all that much more enjoyable; a good time to do little things like catch up on your blog 😉 Until next time....
“I’m sick of following my dreams. I’m just going to ask them where they’re going and hook up with them later.” –Mitch Hedberg
I love this quote! I can’t even express how much I feel understood and giddy when I read it. And then to discover, because I’m really bad at remembering names, that Mitch Hedberg did an act on Comedy Central, years ago, that made me laugh tears. I remember one joke vividly. It was about Ritz Crackers. How on the side of the box it shows different food you can layer on the cracker and how he didn’t understand this because he just wanted a cracker, not a “tiny edible plate.” Everytime, I pick up a Ritz Cracker, which is not often because I think they’re greasy and gross, I think of this joke.
I always wondered why he wore those sun glasses on stage. Apparently, he had stage fright. Go figure.
As for the quote, it just really hits home. I mean following your dreams is exhausting. Especially, since I don’t even know what the “dream” is. I’m just following something, that I’m not quite sure is anything, but hoping if it’s nothing, that it leads to something, and ultimately, the outcome will be reaching some dream. Seriously, can’t we just skip all the non-sense. That was exhausting just thinking about.
My Diorama is in the works. It’s taking a while to plan it out because I have decided that I want it to light up. So, I have been doing some research on LED lights. According to my white board it will look something like this:
But, in reality, it just looks like this:
Here’s to following your dreams…where ever and whatever the hell they may be. But, don’t forget to take a break, to laugh you ass off along the way…

My diorama is not done yet but, with all this long awaited sunshine, I just had to get me some! Sunshine and being out doors is good for your well-being. You know it’s true. Being one with the great outdoors has a positive effect on mind and body. My friend, Dana (who also participated in project 1 photo adventure) took me to a park I had never been before. When she mentioned the name of the park I was confident the name included the word “creek”. It was not a creek. It was a hiking trail with a mountain lion warning. Now, I like nature and all, but not big animals that run fast-and eat meat. But, I overcame my fear and went on a very peaceful, well-being lifting, hike.
There was moss on everything. I love that.
A random piece of a plow, or other form of machinery, left by someone…who apparently didn’t know how to use the piece of machinery.
A really cute little mushroom, hiding in the grass. No, there was no talking caterpillar, smoking a hooka, near by.
A puddle. Because I like to take pictures of this sort of thing.
The path not yet taken.
A while back when I turned in one of my projects I had mentioned that I thought of a new photography project that I was really excited about. I promised a glimpse into this mystery project. And I have kept my word.
Here it is….The Glimpse:
We both, Dana and I, decided we each overcame a specific type of fear today. I, gallivanting around parks with mountain lion warnings. And she, of photographing food in weird places…in public.
